LBN 471, known as the Lion Nebula, fills this approximately 1.5° × 1.0° field with a complex network of glowing hydrogen gas and obscuring dust. Dominated by deep H-alpha emission, the nebula reveals a broad, luminous core surrounded by intricate filaments and dark lanes that carve through the brighter regions. Subtle variations in density create layered structures, giving the impression of depth and motion within the cloud. Embedded stars shine through the thinner regions while denser pockets of dust silhouette against the background glow. This wide field captures not only the central emission region but also the surrounding faint extensions, emphasizing the nebula’s true scale and its integration into the larger interstellar medium. The images were acquired from October 2, 2024 through August1, 2025 with a total integration time of 45.5 hours.
